About Us

New Habits Nutrition

At New Habits Nutrition we focus on using conventional and functional diagnostic methods combined with evidence-based research to find out what ails you! Then we work with your Doctor (if necessary) and natural therapeutics such as herbs, nutritional supplementation and lifestyle changes to help you to become your healthiest self
So whether your 12, 20, 60 or anywhere in between we want to work with you. Although we do plenty of general nutrition, we like to start most programs with gut repair. Current research has shown that most health issues arise because of poor gut health! So whether you've got a family of 6 or are pregnant with your first we are here to help you with hormone balancing, diet and supplements. We'll help to answer all those other questions you have about your health. We don't take a guess at what the underlying issues might be, we use a comprehensive questionnaire and functional testing to figure out the best approach specifically for you. It’s not about big change and horrible withdrawals, it's about taking small, simple steps to a healthier you by creating New Habits!
You don't need to be perfect, just be better than yesterday!

Meet the Team

Joanna Vogel

Owner/Founder BSc. Human Nutrition & Sports Science Registered Clinical Nutritionist #9904313
My journey into health and wellness began long before I recognised it, sparked by early years spent in my grandparents’ health food store. Watching my grandfather support people through nutrition and supplements planted the seed for a lifelong passion. After exploring a few different paths, I eventually returned to my roots—purchasing the family store and serving the Carpinteria community for over eight years, where I also discovered the natural synergy between yoga and nutrition.
In 2014, I moved to New Zealand to complete a BSc in Human Nutrition at Massey University—and meet a Kiwi partner along the way. I passed the family business to my younger brother and shifted into functional health practice, working across Auckland and Kerikeri. During these years I taught yoga, collaborated with local health groups, and expanded my expertise into pelvic health, pregnancy nutrition, and pre/post-natal yoga.
Becoming a mother to my son, Asher, and later navigating my own Hashimoto’s diagnosis strengthened my commitment to understanding the body and supporting healing from a whole-person perspective.
Now based in the Bay of Plenty, I’m excited to bring my experience to a new community. I believe healthy living doesn’t need to be complicated—just guided, informed, and sustainable. My goal is to help people create achievable habits that support a healthier, more energised version of themselves.
